The Captain’s Jacket was designed for you to “kick winter in the teeth.”  The jacket features a layered outer and inner shell providing you extra warmth while helping you look stylish on the sideline.  The pockets were designed to be big enough to fit a clipboard or a laminate work sheet giving you the ability to keep your hands free and your coaching tools dry when you aren’t using them on the field.  With two styles to chose from the Captain’s Jacket is a must see this season.

Another noticeable feature of the team’s new look is that there is no mention of school name anywhere on the uniform.  Instead of names, the back of the uniform does say Bulldogs, but no Gonzaga anywhere and I love it.  The jerseys make a statement.

To me they say America knows who we are and we don’t need our jerseys to tell them.  I wonder if we’ll see any no name jerseys on the lacrosse field this season.

Nike has always been a leader in flashy/stylish sports clothing.  Recently they posted photos of their new Pro Reykjavik Rave Tights, and while they are made for women, I would love to rock these bad boys under my practice/game shorts.  Early spring practices are COLD and many players turn to tights to keep their legs warm.  Why not break away from the standard black, white, or grey and make some crazy tights for men?  Find out more about the Rave Tights here.

Portland, Oregon is quickly making a name for itself as one of the countries next hot beds for lacrosse.  Last season’s Tewaaraton winner was a product of Portland lacrosse and this year we’ll get to watch a number of Pacific Northwest players as many NCAA teams have begun to recruit heavily out of Portland and Seattle.  That is why I am giving Rhino’s Lax City tee, a play on the Portland Trailblazers Rip City jerseys, two thumbs way, way up.  As Portland lacrosse continues to grow, the city is fortunate to have a big name player and a big name company representing the brand.  If you are from the Portland area this shirt is a must have.  Check it out here.

And last, but certainly not least, the team shooting shirt. These just might be my favorite of the year so far. A little bit of a soccer look to them, but I love them.

Yes, those are carpenter pant pockets on the sweatpants, and yes, there is a small pocket on the shoulder which nothing fits into, yes that is the wrong Cardinal logo and yes, the right pant pocket does have a coin pocket, like a pair of jeans might. And on the back? Two butt pockets, with matching black velcro flaps.

To be honest, my initial reaction was one of sheer hatred and joy. I loved them, but I also thought they were heinous. And you know what? Nothing has changed. I still think they are the best, and worst, sweats I’ve ever seen for a lacrosse team.

A couple things to note:

• They are the warmest sweats ever.
• Matt Wheeler, co-fouder of LacrosseRecruits.com designed them in 2003.
• Size Large fits like XL. I got XLs. They are huge.

So are these the best sweats ever? Or the worst? My bias is showing and I just can’t decide.
