I would definitely consider myself an avid Nike follower. Despite the whole ‘evil empire’ nonsense you hear from some people, I love that they are constantly innovating and looking for new ways to make the next best shoe, even if the last one was theirs.
Last summer while in Portland, I visited the Nike Factory store and snagged a pair of Nike Free TR2 Training Shoes. These were hands down one of the best purchases I have made in the last few years (outside of my wife’s wedding ring, of course). They were lightweight, flexible and best of all, had great stability through cuts and pivots. As I’ve used these shoes nonstop for the last year, they are starting to show some signs of wear and that has had me searching for another pair, or a new shoe that might be even better.
Yesterday, Nike Blog unveiled the Nike Free Trainer 5.0, it had all the criteria I look for in a training shoe. Lightweight, flexible, solid traction, and its main technology is all about increasing stability. You have my attention. Today, Nike Blog followed up with a video of the Nike Free Trainer 5.0’s in action, enjoy.
It is pretty ingenious technology that was inspired by a Chinese finger trap. You know what they say, sometimes the best ideas are the simple ones. The Nike Free Trainer 5.0 shoes are scheduled to release on March 28th, you can bet I’ll be looking for a pair in black.
As lacrosse players, we really do require a special kind of training shoe, there are so many different demands in training for our sport.
What are the best training shoes you have ever worn?
