Interview: Traditional Strings Lacrosse Apparel
Recently, I had the chance to talk with Aaron Pollock of Traditional Strings Lacrosse Apparel to get some information on the company’s clothing lines. As of last week, LaxAllStars.com has actually begun to sell two Traditional Strings t-shirts in The Lacrosse Shop, so I felt this to be a pretty relevant interview! Talk about a great combo – Traditional Strings (through their Stick Donation Program) and LaxAllStars.com (Through the GTG initiative) are both working diligently Grow the Game!
Now, without further ado… check out the interview, head to TLS, and help support this up and coming company!

Where is Traditional Strings located and what is your company’s background? How was the company started? What is your mission?
Aaron Pollock: Traditional Strings is based out of Boston, MA. I started the company in 2008 during my Junior year of college as an effort to remain involved in the lacrosse community after my collegiate eligibility was up. Traditional Strings mission is to provide quality apparel to established markets while facilitating the growth of lacrosse in emerging markets through our stick donation program. The donation program was designed to donate sticks to youth programs that foster the growth of Lacrosse in “non-traditional” areas.
Stick Donation Program?!?
Traditional Strings developed the stick donation program to contribute to the growth of lacrosse. The program is intended but not limited to donations to children who are new to Lacrosse and who come from non-traditional Lacrosse communities. All donations directly support Charlestown Lacrosse. Our donation meter automatically updates when sales are completed on our website.

Why did you reach out to LaxAllStars.com to market and sell your apparel?
LAS is a great outlet to market and sell my apparel because its content is directed to lacrosse junkies – individuals who make Lacrosse more then an extra curricular activity. These are the kind of people Traditional Strings intends to outfit. Furthermore, LAS’ commitment to the growth of Lacrosse is aligned with our stick donation initiative… working with people who have similar objectives typically works out well.
What is your involvement and background with Lacrosse?
I was first introduced to Lacrosse as a freshman in High School, when I moved to Massachusetts from Arizona. The JV team needed a goalie, which worked for me because my off-season skateboarding regiment didn’t have me in Lacrosse shape. By the end of the year I was starting for the varsity team. I went on to play D3 JV ball at UMASS Boston, where I was a two-year captain. I played out a few years in college and had 16G and 17A my senior year. Nowadays, I roam around the Croart league as a free agent.
What is the inspiration behind your apparel? Where do you find this inspiration?
Recently I have concentrated my market to the Northeast, so I keep an eye on the trends of the ISL, NESCAC and IVY, trying to create a preppy-bro fusion between those trends and things I see at lacrosse tournaments and in my daily life.
What different types of apparel do you offer?
Currently, we carry T-shirts and Hats. This holiday season I will be adding a couple heavier winter products. New shorts and socks will be added to the catalog for the spring/summer 2012 collection as well. Our mailing list is a great source for product release information.
What are your future plans for your clothing lines and company?
Going forward, Traditional Strings plans to expand its product offerings. I also hope to partner with more youth programs to donate sticks to as our capacity grows.
Thanks again to Aaron Pollock for the great information. Make Sure to also check out the Traditional Strings website!
