Editor’s Note: Since this isn’t your typical piece of gear, we didn’t want to use our traditional 10-point scale. Occasionally we will come across products like that which are hard to rate, at the time, we will include it in our Gear Showcase series. Please know that just because it doesn’t have a 10-point rating, doesn’t mean we haven’t thoroughly checked it out. Enjoy!

Company: Dyna-ClawsProduct: Performance Field CleatsPrice: Starting at $12.99

By now, you’ve surely heard of the Dyna-Claws, they made their rounds through some media outlets late last summer and this fall. Instead of just throwing together a little press piece on them, we wanted to put them to the test and see what a whole team of lacrosse players would think of them.

We brought them out to practice at the beginning of the season and handed them out to all of our players with detachable cleats. It worked out that several players with very different playing styles tested out the cleats for us. Some who are all about speed, some with quick and agile footwork, and even a few who aren’t afraid to run right through a guy – it was a very diverse group of players to say the least.

Fast forward a few months, several different playing surfaces, and 13 games later, I think it is safe to say that these Dyna-Claws have been thoroughly tested.

I asked each one of the players to tell me about their experience with the cleats and as one of their reviews below shows, they loved the product. Well… not all of them. One of the players got a little scraped up when he got cleated by the Dyna-Claws. Oops!

One of our attackman had this to say about the Dyna-Claws…

When I first got the Dyna-Claws, I was very skeptical due to the new design and material used in the product. The installation was easy, the tools included made it a stress-free process and they were ready to go in about 10 minutes.

As soon as I stepped on the field I noticed a difference in my planting, sprinting, and stability. I was able to play at a faster speed and they felt much better than my traditional studs. I specifically noticed that I was getting more momentum forward due to the claw shape of the product.

I would definitely buy them again if they were to break or wear down, they are simply a better option than getting new studs, if you have a shoe with the screw-in cleat option. I also personally had a foot surgery over the summer, and was feeling sore after practices trying to plant hard with my big toe and the arch of my foot. With the Dyna-Claws I felt that most of the work digging into the ground was done by the cleat as I used a normal running motion.

All in all, the Dyna-Claws are the best option I’ve had, and can really improve the perfomance of anyone who needs a little extra speed.

I was skeptical myself when I pulled these out of the package, I mean, they’re essentially golf cleats, right? From checking out though, that is the beauty of it. Less pressure on your feet, more points of contact, and apparently it’s good for the environment too!

If you are in the market for new cleats, or just looking for a change of pace from your traditional spikes, I would highly recommend checking these out!
