Gait G11 Helmet – Does This Thing Really Exist?
Beginning in May or June of this year, there were some rumblings of a new helmet coming out of Gait Lacrosse. This helmet was supposed to be released in September. Since then though we haven’t seen anything new. No advertising, no more mentions, and no new online info… at least not that this writer has seen. The release of this helmet was strange to say the least.
Of course we weren’t done there, so we got in touch with Gait, and it seems like the helmet had been pushed back for another year of development before it is released. Nothing wrong with pulling a product that isn’t 100% ready to go to market. I was beginning to question the Gait mantra, which boasts “Always Thinking” as their slogan, until I heard that news. Quality over quantity. I can live with that.
All of this aside, the most intriguing aspect of the G11 for me is the completely interchangeable visor and chin. We aren’t just talking about “mod kits” as were the case with the Cascade CLH2. We are talking about the entire visor and the entire chin piece being interchangeable. We always like a good advance in tech and customization!
The Warrior Riot glove’s interchangeable cuffs worked to allow you to have multiple looks with one glove, so why wouldn’t this work with a helmet? Considering that you could have home and away helmets by changing the visor and chin of this helmet is highly intriguing while keeping the costs low (assuming the interchangeable visor and chin pieces are reasonably priced).
Nonetheless, what do you all think? Has anyone seen this helmet in person? Tried it out? Does it even exist? Ok, we know prototypes exist. We’ve seen the photos!
Is Gait going to go for it in 2013 with this lid? And will they let the staff over here at Sweet Sweet Lax try one of these on and write a full review?
