Compression Short Swag: Nike Pro Combat Hypercool 2.0

If there’s one area of lacrosse equipment I think is seriously behind, it’s compression shorts.

I have never stepped onto a lacrosse field without a pair of these things on, and yet I’ve been wearing the same white or black Under Armour compression shorts since I was in high school.

“Gross,” you might say, and understandably so.

It is with your disgust in mind that today I went looking for something new, and most importantly something as swagged out as the rest of my equipment.

This will be the first post in a new series called Compression Short Swag, highlighting fantastic compression shorts because they are too few and far between.

Nike knows how to highlight a man's hindquarters

Today I picked up two pairs of the Nike Pro Combat Hypercool 2.0 compression shorts, in the blue and yellow colors below. What a world of difference. The material is soft in the right places, the waistband is thick but comfortable, and you can literally feel the sides breathe. Granted it was also freezing at practice tonight.

And I’ll tell you what, when you turn the corner and your shorts bounce up after smoking your defenseman, you’ll never be afraid of the camera-guy taking chicken leg photos from the far corner again. Your chicken legs will be marinated in thick layers of compression short swag.

So you’re saying these are better to the UnderArmour shorts I’ve been wearing forever?

Yes! Check out the original plain Pro Combat Hypercool 6″ too! They are the most comfortable ones I’ve worn.

Do you prefer the originals or the Pro Combat 2.0?

Well I haven’t gotten to play a game in the 2.0s yet, but I will say that the ones I just linked are a bit more comfortable, only because you can feel the stitching of the side-panels in some places. That being said, they definitely don’t look as cool.
