Editor’s Note: Please welcome Andrew Ratzke back to Sweet Sweet Lax! Ratz will be hitting up the lifestyle side of lacrosse, ranging from uniforms to rivalries to apparel and off the field activities. He’s starting things off nicely with a closer look at the Army – Navy football helmets.

The historic Army vs. Navy matchup is one of college football’s most well known rivalry games.  Both teams took the field in some new digs and neither team disappointed.  Army’s helmet featured a map of the Ardennes region of Europe, the location of the Battle of the Bulge, while Navy’s lid played tribute to the branch’s traditional whites.

Navy’s matte/chrome combination and both team’s matte face masks have me crossing my fingers for some big surprises from the helmet world this coming lacrosse season.  Check out more photos and the story behind the helmets here (Navy, Army).

Any predictions on what Army and Navy will whip out for the Spring? Last year’s lacrosse game between the two was pretty epic!
